Economic Fallacy

From The Most Violent Dictionary
Jump to: navigation, search

The unquestioned assumption, in broad terms, that:

  1. Human happiness is congruent with money, or
  2. The more money you have, the happier you are, or
  3. People get sad and despondent when they get less money
    1. That's why they naturally turn violent (black version).
    2. That's why they get addicted / overdose / suicide (white version).

___

It's a fallacy because so many of the factors which affect violence, addiction and suicide are not strictly economic factors. It's a fallacy fully embraced in more internet essays than I can be bothered to look up.

Americans are good at getting by with less, at adjusting to tough times.
