Humans in both history and prehistory have had to struggle for existence.
This struggle, the Human Struggle, continues to this day.
We are lucky and fortunate, as humans, to have a certain general sense of fairness and justice. In those rare circumstances where humans have momentarily accounted for their material needs with a considerable surplus, we have the opportunity to assess the variant needs of various kinds of people. In this circumstance, what evolved as a mechanism of justice for smallish in-groups
